Boxidizer
The Tronographic Boxidizer is a pre-amp effect pedal optimized for electric
guitar, designed to replicate the high-gain solid-state amp tone of the 1970s.
The pedal features a 3-band passive EQ with bass, middle, and treble controls
specifically tuned for electric guitar. It also includes an input gain
control, master volume, and an independent boost control. The boost footswitch
enables boost level control for extra drive, and there is an effect footswitch
to toggle between effect mode and true bypass. The pedal also offers a
balanced D.I. output on a TRS plug for use as a direct box when in effect
mode. It can be powered by a 9V battery or a standard 9VDC, center-negative
power supply.
The Boxidizer is known for its versatility, offering the ability to shape,
fine-tune, fatten, flatter, and otherwise massage the guitar signal. It is
effective for achieving heftier, precisely EQed clean tones as well as tighter
saturation in distorted tones. The pedal is also praised for its tactile
immediacy, sharp pick attack, and thick, low-mid-rich gain, making it suitable
for a wide range of playing styles and musical genres.
The pedal's sturdy enclosure, smooth knob action, and chassis-mounted I/O
jacks contribute to its robust build quality. Despite its compact size of 4
1/2" x 3 1/2", the Boxidizer is known for its weight and durability.
Overall, the Tronographic Boxidizer is recognized for its ability to deliver
the big tones associated with '70s solid-state amps, offering a wide range of
capabilities from soft and pretty to total brutality, making it a valuable
addition to any guitarist's rig.
