The Mu-FX Boostron 3 is a versatile pedal that combines three classic effects in one unit. It is designed with a "mini-mu" housing, providing added functionality to classic effects while maintaining a modern, pedal board- oriented approach. The pedal features the following stages:
1. Stage 1: Based upon an Alembic Stratoblaster clean boost
2. Stage 2: Based upon a Musitronics/Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer compressor
3. Stage 3: Based upon a Pro Co RAT distortion
The Alembic Stratoblaster is a FET preamp that provides a clean boost, originally designed as a retrofit guitar input jack with a battery-powered effect controlled by an on/off switch and an adjustable trim pot for the desired amount of gain. The Musitronics/Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer is a simple and distinctive sounding compressor, originally designed as a small cube that plugged directly into the guitar and was powered by a 9V battery. The Pro Co RAT is an LM308 op-amp distortion that ranges from bluesy overdrive to full-out fuzzy distortion, originally designed as a moderately sized effects pedal powered by a 9V battery.
The pedal is housed in a lightweight and robust aluminum enclosure, with 1/4" true bypass switching input jack, FX loop (1/4" FX send & 1/4" return jacks), and 1/4" output jack. The dimensions of the pedal are 6" x 4.5" x 2.25", and it is made in the USA.
