The Utility Muffin by Stomp Under Foot is a handcrafted pedal designed with specific technical specifications. It features the following:
- True-Bypass
- Power: 9V Battery or 2.1 9V Adapter Only
- Current Draw: 2mA
- Components: New-old-stock (NOS) parts
- Handmade in the U.S.A.
The Utility Muffin is inspired by Frank Zappa's modified late 1970's Big Muff, which provides a smooth, warm sound on the bass side and a little brightness on the high strings. The pedal yields a full-bodied, smooth, low-end and sweet highs with a little bite on lead notes. The modifications reduce the gain of the pedal, making it more of a low to medium overdrive/fuzz mix.
The pedal is named after Frank Zappa's recording studio, the Utility Muffin Research Kitchen. It was produced in a very limited run in 2016. Stomp Under Foot pedals are made by hand using only quality, through-hole components.
