The Zoom 9002 is an advanced guitar effects processor designed for professional musicians and enthusiasts. It features a combination of analog and digital circuitry, ensuring high-quality distortion and compression effects essential for electric guitar sound. The device boasts true 16-bit quantization for professional results in digital-to-analog and analog-to- digital conversion circuits. Additionally, it is equipped with Zoom's custom ZFx-1 DSP LSI, providing enhanced digital signal processing power in a compact form factor.

The 9002 accepts normal monaural input from the guitar and outputs chorus, delay, and reverb effects in stereo. It includes a large, easy-viewing LCD display window for high readability and user-friendly operation. The device also offers headphone jacks and a mix input for private monitoring and playing along with external sources. User patch protection is available without the need for a special battery, simplifying maintenance.

In terms of software, the effect chain consists of six stages: compressor, distortion, equalizer, modulation group, delay, and reverb group. The device offers easy operation with sliding faders for quick and intuitive adjustment of parameter values. It comes with five pre-programmed factory preset memory banks and five user memory banks, each capable of storing four patches.
