The Refinery V2 by Foxpedal is a five-knob compressor designed for ultimate control over the signal. It is built around an Operational Transconductance Amplifier (OTA), offering an incredibly low noise floor and more headroom. The Refinery V2 provides control over various parameters:
1. Attack: Determines the time it takes for the compression to engage when a
loud signal is introduced.
2. Release: Controls the time it takes for the gain to recover after the loud
signal has passed.
3. Ratio: Adjusts how much the gain reduces during compression, with the
ability to blend uncompressed signal with the compressed response.
4. Level: Allows the re-addition of gain to recover any lost volume during
compression.
5. Blend (New! ): Maintains the clean (dry) and compressed (wet) signals in
two parallel paths, enabling mixing between full-dry and full-wet with minimal
signal loss.
6. Bright Toggle: Provides the option to boost treble frequencies to add
sparkle back to a compressed signal.
The dimensions of the Refinery V2 are 2.6" W x 4.6" H x 1.5" D, with a current draw of approximately 30mA. The design is based on the Engineer's Thumb circuit by Merlin Blencoe of valvewizard.co.uk, with permission granted to create a commercial product using this circuit.
