The Grumbly Wolf by Fredric Effects is a highly versatile combined distortion, fuzz, octave, and ring mod effect pedal. It is based on an MXR Dist+ and DOD 250 clipping distortion circuit, with asymmetrical clipping. The distortion circuit is followed by the Green Ringer octave/ring mod effect, which can be toggled on and off with a switch. This second stage can provide extra gain for full-on splattery fuzz or clangy ring mod type sounds with the distortion turned down. The pedal also features a unique wolf's eye that illuminates with playing when the gain is cranked up. The design includes a switchable on/off feature for the ring mod effect, offering a wide range of tonal possibilities from classic crunchy overdrive to classic fuzz tones.
