Cross Over Drive

The MI Audio Cross Over Drive is a versatile pedal designed to bridge the gap between boost, tone enhancement, touch-sensitive overdrive, and fuzz. Handmade in Sydney, Australia, it features a 5-year warranty and a heavy-duty 3PDT footswitch for true bypass. The pedal is housed in a durable powder-coated enclosure and can be powered by a 9V battery or an external 9V DC power supply with a negative center pin. The current draw is 5mA, and the input impedance is 500kΩ, while the output impedance is less than 25kΩ.

The Cross Over Drive is built around four FET transistors, meticulously designed to capture the response and touch-sensitivity of an amp's organic overdrive. It offers three distinct gain modes: low gain, standard, and tight mode, each providing a different tonal character and response. The gain control allows for a wide range of saturation, from boost/light breakup to smooth, touch-sensitive overdrive, and finally to smooth fuzz.

The pedal features two tone controls, Balance and Detail, which provide flexibility in adjusting the character of the overdrive. The Balance control adjusts the high-frequency band relative to the low frequencies, while the Detail control is a high-frequency roll-off, allowing for precise tonal shaping. The Volume control adjusts the output volume of the pedal.

The Cross Over Drive also includes a mode switch, offering additional flexibility with the original Standard (STD) mode, Low mode for bluesier tones with enhanced touch dynamics, and Tight mode for higher gain and a more pronounced upper mid focus.
