The Mission Engineering VM-1 is a passive volume pedal designed primarily for use with guitars. It features a 470K Ohm impedance potentiometer, which works perfectly with most passive electric guitar pickups. The pedal also includes an isolated second output for connecting to a tuner or similar device, as well as a mute switch to permit silent tuning and noise-free guitar changes.
The VM-1 is a professional quality, all-metal volume pedal with the following specifications:
- Electrical Specifications:
- Potentiometer: Internal resistance - 470K Ohm, Taper - Custom, Usage rating
1M cycles
- Switch: Type - Latching, Function - Enables and disables Mute mode
- Dimensions:
- Base length at longest point: 9.9”
- Base width at widest point: 4.0”
- Height at highest point including feet: 3.25”
- Pedal length: 8.7”
- Pedal width at widest point: 3.0”
- Pedal width at narrowest point: 2.3”
- Weight: 3.5lbs
The pedal is designed to be intuitive to set up and operate, and it provides many years of trouble-free service. It is a passive device and requires no internal battery or external power source for volume control and switching.
The VM-1 uses a single ¼” TS phone jack marked IN, and two ¼” TS phone jacks marked OUT 1 and OUT 2 on the underside of the pedal. The pedal is recommended to be used first in the signal chain and connected directly to the guitar output due to its high impedance.
Mute mode is engaged by pushing on the front of the pedal to activate the switch under the rocker. In mute mode, OUT 1 is disconnected so no signal will pass to the amplifier, and OUT 2 is engaged to allow silent tuning.
The tension of the rocker can be adjusted using the tension adjustment screw on the rear of the pedal, and the switch sensitivity can be adjusted by lowering or raising the switch in the chassis.
The VM-1 Aero model also includes an illuminated base, visible from any position, which indicates the selected mode.
