The Bitcrusher ToneCore by Red Panda is a stereo bit crusher that is compatible with guitar, bass, and line-level instruments. It offers flexible inputs and outputs for self-oscillation and feedback loops. The pedal features custom knob responses that provide a wide range along with more control in the most useful ranges. It incorporates a proprietary bit reduction algorithm that includes a noise gate and fractional bit depths. The Bitcrusher ToneCore is developed using the Line 6 ToneCore DSP Development Kit and custom DSP code.
The controls on the Bitcrusher ToneCore include:
- Mix knob for wet/dry balance control
- Env knob for modulating the wet/dry mix by the input signal’s envelope and
modulating the sampling rate by the envelope in “env” tracking mode
- Crush control for reducing the number of bits used to represent the signal,
from 24 bits (0%) to 1 bit (100%)
- Freq control for setting the sampling rate
- LFO knob for controlling the amount of sampling rate modulation by the LFO
- Speed knob for adjusting the LFO rate
- LFO waveform switch for selecting between sine, square, and random step
(sample and hold) waveforms
- Tracking mode switch for different functions based on tracking being on or
off
The Bitcrusher ToneCore is designed to work with stereo or mono ToneCore docks, with a recommendation for a stereo dock. The pedal's dimensions are 4.4'' x 3.3'' x 2.4'', and it operates on a 9V DC power supply with a center- negative polarity.
