J Mascis Garbage Face

The J Mascis Garbage Face by Wren and Cuff is a signature pedal designed in collaboration with J Mascis, the renowned guitarist of Dinosaur Jr. The pedal is available in two versions: the Garbage Face Jr and the J Mascis Garbage Face.

The Garbage Face Jr is a meticulous recreation of J’s favorite vintage Muff pedal, specifically the early 70’s “Ram’s Head” Big Muff® purchased by J on tour in 1987. It features a true hard-wire bypass and a lifetime warranty. The pedal is a compact, pedalboard-friendly enclosure with bold colors and playful imagery, capturing J’s artistic preferences.

The J Mascis Garbage Face is a faithful recreation of J Mascis’ favorite Muff pedal, featuring a vintage germanium transistor treble boost, selectable output volumes, and true-bypass operation. This pedal is a part-by-part recreation of J’s number one Muff since 1987, with unique component values that have drifted far from their original values during its near-50 year journey.

Both versions of the pedal offer a unique and iconic sound, capturing the essence of J Mascis' legendary guitar tone. The Garbage Face Jr provides a stripped-down three-knob version of the distortion side of the original pedal, while the J Mascis Garbage Face offers a comprehensive replication of J’s favorite Muff pedal along with a germanium treble booster and a second volume knob with a footswitch for switching between two Muff volume outputs.
