The Preamp MKII by Chase Bliss Audio is a versatile effects pedal that combines drive, fuzz, and EQ functionalities. It features variable diode clipping, resonant, routable mids, and two types of fuzz, all integrated with the circuitry of a Benson amplifier. The pedal is built around the front-end circuitry of a Chimera tube amp, utilizing FET transistors for the 12AX7s triode stages, resulting in extremely responsive and versatile breakup with rich harmonics and musical EQ.
The fuzz circuitry, positioned at the front of the signal flow, offers classic, powerful, and massive open fuzz, as well as a squished, zippy, and penetrating gated option. The parametric midrange section provides the ability to cut or boost any frequency, adjust routing and resonance, and perform filter sweeps. Additionally, the pedal offers variable diode clipping control, allowing users to achieve different drive pedal textures with either a transistor-only sound, a harder Silicon edge, or Germanium asymmetry.
The Preamp MKII is equipped with motorized faders that react to preset changes and external control signals, while maintaining a 100% analog signal path. It includes MIDI, CV, and Expression control, as well as 30 internal presets. The pedal has mono I/O, true bypass, and operates on 9V Center Negative with a power requirement of approximately 500 mA. The dimensions of the pedal are approximately 5.75" x 6.5" x 2.5".
