The Electro-Harmonix Hot Wax is a dual overdrive pedal that combines the distortion sections used by two EHX classics: the Crayon and the Hot Tubes. Each section can be engaged independently, offering two distinct overdrive flavors, or together to create a massive overdriven sound. The pedal features a two-knob EQ (Bass and Treble) for extensive tonal control, as well as a Blend control to mix between the dry and distorted sound. These controls are active with either or both distortion sections engaged and bypassed when both overdrive sections are turned off.
The Hot Wax pedal includes the following specifications:
- Bypass: Buffered Bypass
- Audio: Mono
- Power Supply: 9.6VDC-200mA power adapter included
- Dimensions: 4.75 x 4.13 x 2.25 inches
- Current Draw: 75mA
- Input Impedance: 2.2 MOhms
- Output Impedance: 220 Ohms
The pedal is powered by a standard 9V power jack and comes equipped with an Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200BI power supply (9.6 Volts DC 200mA). It features quiet pop-free foot switching and is suitable for use with guitar, bass, keyboards, and other musical instruments.
