The Greer Amps Tarpit Integrated Circuit Fuzz Machine is a versatile pedal designed to deliver classic muff-style tones, ranging from spitty fuzz to excessive sustain. It is based on a rare, vintage Big Muff Pi variant that utilizes two integrated circuits, providing increased tonal flexibility compared to the standard transistorized version.
Key Features:
- Vintage Muff tones, ranging from spitty fuzz to over-the-top sustain
- Wide sweep tone control for boosted bass tones or peaked-out highs
- Equipped with two integrated circuits for added tonal flexibility
- True Bypass
- Uses 9-volt battery or standard neg. center 2.1mm power supply
- Built with top-quality components
- Hand-wired in Athens, GA
- Lifetime Warranty to the original owner
Design:
The Tarpit is built in a rugged powder-coated aluminum enclosure with custom
oxblood control knobs by Davies, giving it a unique and eye-catching
aesthetic. The pedal features black and white printed graphics designed by
Nick DePartee, a former guitarist for the band Kutless.
Controls:
The Tarpit features three main control knobs: Sustain, Tone, and Volume. The
Sustain control allows for adjustments from dark and spitty tones with low
gain to increased brightness, fuzz, sustain, and harmonics. The wide sweep
tone control provides versatility by cutting treble and boosting bass
frequencies, allowing for full guitar and bass frequencies to come out. The
volume control is designed with a slightly later taper on the potentiometer to
achieve awesome sustain and fuzz at lower volumes when needed.
Use Cases:
The Tarpit Integrated Circuit Fuzz Machine is suitable for guitarists and
bassists seeking a versatile pedal for achieving a wide range of muff-style
fuzz tones. Its unique sound and aesthetics make it stand out, and its true
bypass design ensures minimal signal interference when not in use.
