The Maxon AD-999 is a vintage series analog delay pedal designed to deliver rich, warm, and organic delay tones. It features eight custom Maxon MC4107D Bucket Brigade ICs, providing a delay time of 40 milliseconds to 900 milliseconds. The pedal's delay repeats exhibit a slightly overdriven tonality, adding depth to clean sounds and complementing dirty tones. The AD-999 also features a slight EQ spike at around 1.5 kHz to prevent the repeats from becoming muddy.
Technical Specifications:
- Input Impedance: 500K Ohms
- Output Impedance: 10K Ohms or less
- Residual Noise: -95 dB (input shorted, IHF-A weighted)
- Control: Delay Time, Repeat, Delay Level
- Switch: Normal/Effect (4PDT mechanical true bypass)
- I/O: Input, Output (Mix in mono, Wet only in stereo), Dry Output
- Current Consumption: 46 mA at 9VDC / 48 mA at 10VDC
- Dimensions: 117 (W) x 150 (D) x 60 (H) mm
- Weight: 600 Grams
The AD-999 also features Mechanical True Bypass switching on both outputs via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch, ensuring high-quality signal routing. The pedal's delay tone is described as pure analog heaven, reacting dynamically to the player's performance.
The AD-999's design incorporates a high impedance input buffer, Compander stage, clock drivers, and a mixer/amplifier to blend the clean and delayed signals. The pedal is capable of self-oscillation effects and is equipped with stereo (wet/dry) outputs.
