The MXR Fat Sugar Drive pedal brings the Sugar Drive's diverse range of clear and transparent overdrive tones to MXR's classic housing for players who prefer its footprint over that of the mini. The pedal's versatility comes from its unique Drive control, which replicates an amp's transition from clean to dirty by blending the clean signal at the start of the sweep. It also features a voltage doubler, which increases overall headroom and opens up the sound of the pedal. This allows users to achieve everything from a sauced-up boost to full-on blown-tube distortion.
The external controls of the MXR Fat Sugar Drive pedal include a VOLUME knob for setting the overall effect volume, a TONE knob for rolling off high frequencies, and a DRIVE knob for setting the amount of overdrive. The footswitch toggles the effect on and off, with a red LED indicating when the effect is active. Additionally, there is an internal BUFFER switch that engages buffered bypass.
The specifications of the MXR Fat Sugar Drive pedal are as follows:
- Input Impedance: 600 kΩ
- Output Impedance: 3 kΩ
- Nominal Input Level: +6 dBV
- Maximum Output Level:
- True Bypass without Buffer selected: +26 dBV
- Tone control (@ full CCW): -20 dB @ 3 kHz
- Current Draw: 18.5 mA @ 9 VDC
- Power Requirements: 9 VDC (ECB003 AC adapter)
- Throughput Gain: up to +50 dB @ 1kHz
- All measurements made at 1 kHz, speed at mid position
The MXR Fat Sugar Drive pedal is powered by one 9-volt battery (accessible via the underside of the pedal), the Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter, or the DC Brick™, Iso-Brick™, and Mini Iso-Brick™ power supplies.
For users who prefer buffered bypass instead of true bypass, there is an option to switch to buffered bypass by removing the bottom plate and flicking the internal Buffer switch.
This special edition of the MXR Fat Sugar Drive pedal comes with a custom pink sparkle finish.
