Description

The Proteus by Subdecay is a versatile pedal designed to deliver envelope and sample/hold filter effects in a compact unit. It features an all-analog signal path with digital control for tap tempo and switching between envelope and random sample/hold filtering. The pedal is equipped with a switchable bandpass and lowpass filter, offering a new design closer to the Maestro Filter Sample Hold. The resonance control adds a new dimension to the effect, ranging from subtle to greasy gritty synth tones.

It offers a bypass switch for turning the effect on or off, a tap/mode switch for initiating the sample/hold filter, and a frequency control for filter resting point. Additionally, the depth control allows for filter modulation range adjustment in both envelope follower and sample hold mode, while the 1-2-4 step multiplier offers one, two, or four steps per beat in sample hold mode.

The pedal's design philosophy focuses on user control, offering a straightforward filter that can be easily understood within seconds. With its combination of analog tone and modern features, the Proteus is suitable for a wide range of musical applications, from funk-inspired envelope filter effects to random sample hold filtering.
