Description

The White Light by EarthQuaker Devices is a hard clipping, vintage-voiced overdrive pedal that draws inspiration from classic dirt pedals that defined the sounds of heavy rock. It offers total control over the feel and voice of the distortion, along with a modern presence that is highly responsive to the player's style. The pedal features the following controls:

1. Gain: Controls the amount of distortion.
2. Weight: A multi-functional control that allows adjustment of saturation, bass response, and the overall feel of the device.
3. Level: Controls the output.
4. Compression Switch: Allows selection between an open-voiced overdrive with more high-mids and bite, or more compression with less bite and flatter mid- range.

The White Light pedal is all analog, true bypass, and handmade one at a time in Akron, Ohio. It is designed to work well with both humbuckers and single coils, adding a 70s grit to the tone. The pedal is housed in an enclosure measuring 4.37″ X 2.37″ X 1.5″ with knobs.

In terms of power, the pedal requires a standard 9-volt DC power supply with a 2.1mm negative center barrel. The current draw is 6 mA. It is recommended to use pedal-specific, transformer-isolated wall-wart power supplies or multiple isolated-output supplies to minimize noise.

The White Light pedal has been updated with a new enclosure, top-mounted jacks, and features EarthQuaker Devices' proprietary Flexi-Switch® Technology. It is limited to 2,000 units worldwide and is a reissue of a classic EQD overdrive circuit based on the OD205 and Distortion+ circuit.
