The Guyatone ST-2 Compression Sustainer is a compact stompbox pedal designed to provide extreme amounts of compression in a small format. It features variable Level and Sustain controls, allowing users to dramatically squash the input signal, resulting in smooth, clean bell-like notes that can last for an extended duration.
The ST-2 also includes a direct on/off switch, which blends in a dry input signal at equal volume with the compressed signal, eliminating the attack- altering characteristics common to other compressors. This pedal can be used for a wide variety of applications, from achieving the ultimate "chicken pickin" guitar tone to functioning as a clean booster for overdriving the front end of an amp.
With its full-frequency response, the ST-2 is suitable for use with any instrument, including guitar, bass, and keyboards. By manipulating the Sustain and Level controls, users can achieve effects ranging from subtle compression to signal limiting, as well as note attack-altering effects.
