OOD-9 Organic Overdrive Pedal

The Maxon OOD-9 Organic Overdrive Pedal is a versatile and high-quality effects pedal designed for guitarists seeking warm, open-sounding overdrive with a pronounced high-frequency response. The pedal features a 2SK246 jFET buffer at the beginning of the signal path, providing high input impedance and low output impedance into the first Op Amp – a NJM (JRC) 4558. This Op Amp is set up to provide a 20 to 120x gain in signal. The signal then passes through a pair of diodes to ground, similar to classic boxes such as the MXR Distortion+, Pro Co Rat, and Boss DS-1.

The OOD-9 also includes a NJM2374A Voltage converter to stabilize the operating voltage at 9 VDC, ensuring a smoother and more consistent operation and tonality. It features Mechanical True Bypass switching via a Fujisoku 4PDT switch, and its voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup.
