The Mystery Brain BS-301 by Nocturne is a versatile pedal that combines a vintage Japanese preamp and a digital tape echo simulator. It replicates the 70’s Japanese RE-301 Space Echo preamp and features a boost mode (ABBY) and a digital tape echo simulator using analog photocell modulation for chorus or vibrato. The pedal offers 100% analog vintage tone, texture, and dynamic replication.
Key Features:
- Vintage Japanese Preamp & Digi Tape Echo: The pedal replicates the sounds
and response of the famous Japanese 301 space echo, offering rates from about
15ms to 600ms tape delay times.
- Analog Photocell Modulation: The pedal includes a defeatable analog
modulation circuit that affects the wet signal of the echo repeats, allowing
subtle shimmer, dimensional chorus, and fast trem pulse.
- Boost Mode: The ABBY mode on the Atomic Brain section provides an almost
light overdrive boost when the Tape echo emulator is engaged.
- Additional Controls: The pedal features a DB cut/clean switch for less
saturated attack, a bass cut, and a presence cut switch for a wide variety of
guitars and pedal board signal options.
Technical Specifications:
- Dimensions: 5 5/8" x 4 5/8" x 1 9/16"
- Power Supply: 9V DC, 85mA max (power supply not included)
