The Octasynth by Subdecay is an analog synthesizer designed for guitar effects. It features an octave generator that converts the guitar signal into three square waves, which then pass through a resonant low pass filter. This combination of raw waveforms and resonant filters creates classic analog synth tones.
The pedal tracks both the note being played and the dynamics to control the filter, allowing for expressive and dynamic sound manipulation. The controls are tailored for quick sound creation, with a blend control for three octave voices, depth control for filter range, resonance control for filter intensity, and a level control for total output volume.
The Octasynth is powered by a 9-volt battery or a regulated 9VDC to 12VDC adapter with a negative center. It has an input impedance of 500K and a current draw of less than 10mA. The pedal is hand-made in Oregon, featuring die-cast metal enclosures for durability, 3PDT switches for true bypass switching, and a red LED indicator. It comes with a three-year limited warranty.
The pedal is suitable for use with bass guitar, although it is designed with guitar in mind. It is monophonic and may produce a full two octaves down, which could be excessive for the lower registers of bass guitar. The Octasynth is compact, with dimensions of 4.4" x 2.3" x 1.0".
