The Red Muck by JAM Pedals is a vintage-sounding Fuzz-Distortion pedal inspired by combining the circuits of the ’71 “triangle” and the later “Red Army / Civil War” Muff. The pedal features true bypass and works with a 9V DC adaptor (tip-negative), consuming only 12 mA of power. Its dimensions, including jacks and pots, are 7.5 x 12 x 5.6 cm (2.9 x 4.7 x 2.2 inches), and it weighs 300g (0.66 lbs). The Red Muck boasts a wider gamut of saturation and varied degrees of compression and sustain, with a boost footswitch that engages a dedicated section of the circuit, separately tuned to hit the front end of the Red Muck and generate fatter walls of Fuzz-Distortion. The pedal also features a 2-way toggle-switch to select between symmetrical and asymmetrical “+” clipping modes. The controls include LEVEL for output level, TONE for tone adjustment, GAIN for gain level, and an internal trimmer to adjust the boost’s level. The Red Muck is suitable for achieving early lyrical sustaining Muff tones or massive Stoner-Fuzz-Distortion wall of sound.
